Prognostic Factors Identified for Retroperitoneal Leiomyosarcoma Survival
Retroperitoneal leiomyosarcoma, a rare and aggressive type of cancer, has been found to have prognostic factors that can predict overall survival after initial resection and subsequent surgery for recurrence. A recent study from Fudan University in Shanghai, People's Republic of China, analyzed 227 patients who underwent surgery for retroperitoneal leiomyosarcoma from January 2002 to December 2022. The researchers identified maximum tumor diameter, Federation Nationale des Centres de Lutte Contre le Cancer (FNCLCC) grade, platelet count, and neutrophil/lymphocyte ratio as independent risk factors for overall survival in primary retroperitoneal leiomyosarcoma patients.
