Achieving Supply Chain Sustainability Through Green Innovation
Researchers at Jazan University have conducted a study to investigate the relationship between internal dynamic capabilities and sustainable supply chain performance in the logistics sector. The study aimed to fill the existing gap in literature by examining how internal capabilities contribute to green supply chain innovation (GSCI) and subsequently result in sustainability outcomes. Using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) analysis of data collected from 312 logistics and supply chain professionals in Jordan, the researchers found that digital leadership, environmental awareness, and organizational learning have a significant impact on GSCI and sustainable performance.
Key Takeaways:
- The study examined the effect of internal dynamic capabilities (digital leadership, environmental awareness, and organizational learning) on sustainable supply chain performance in the logistics sector.
- Seven hypotheses were tested using PLS-SEM analysis of data collected from 312 logistics and supply chain professionals in Jordan.
- The results showed that each of the three capabilities (digital leadership, environmental awareness, and organizational learning) has a major effect on green supply chain innovation (GSCI) and therefore sustainable performance.
- The study found that leveraging internal capabilities is a tangible channel for green innovation, which has important ramifications for practitioners and policymakers facing resource constraints.
- The researchers concluded that internal dynamic capabilities can be a critical factor in achieving sustainable supply chain performance.
Statistics:
- 312 logistics and supply chain professionals in Jordan participated in the study.
- The study used Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) analysis to examine the relationships between internal dynamic capabilities and sustainable supply chain performance.
- The strongest effect (beta = 0.825, p < 0.01) was found between the most influential predictor of sustainability outcome and sustainable supply chain performance.
