Biopharmaceutical Company Expands Product Portfolio, Fosters Patient Support
We are a commercial-stage biopharmaceutical company with a strategic focus on in-licensing and developing products that treat rare diseases, especially those in the neuromuscular and neurological spaces. However, following a 2021 decision to broaden and diversify our product portfolio, we have been actively exploring opportunities to acquire companies with drug products in development or to in-license products that fit our expanded criteria.
The company has made significant strides in expanding its presence globally, particularly in the Asian market. In June 2021, we announced a positive decision in a Canadian court that quashed the NOC previously issued for Ruzurgi (R) in the country. Additionally, we have reached an agreement with Japanese regulatory authorities as to the scope of the clinical trial required to be completed before an application can be submitted to commercialize FIRDAPSE in Japan. Furthermore, DyDo Pharma, our collaborator, initiated a Phase 3 registrational study in Japan in December 2021 to evaluate the efficacy and safety of FIRDAPSE (R).
Our team has also been actively working with patients and physicians to ensure access to our products for those suffering from rare diseases. In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, we developed an array of financial assistance programs to reduce patient expenses for our medication, such as FIRDAPSE (R). As part of our commitment to supporting patients and their caregivers, we sponsor advocacy organizations that provide education and support to those affected by rare diseases.
