Breakthrough in Oral Squamous Cell Carcinoma Treatment through Immunostimulatory Nanovaccine

A new research study published in Aggregate journal presents a promising approach to overcome current limitations in immune checkpoint blockade (ICB) therapies for treating oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC). The researchers from Sichuan Cancer Hospital & Institute developed an immunostimulatory nanovaccine using tetrahedral framework nucleic acids (tFNAs) as a carrier for stable and efficient delivery of CpG oligonucleotide. When combined with a PD-1 inhibitor, the nanovaccine effectively activated antigen-presenting cells (APCs), resulting in a substantial boost in infiltration of cytotoxic T cells in both lymph nodes and tumor tissues, thereby executing a potent antitumor effect and inhibiting the progression of OSCC tumors in C3H mouse.
