COVID-19 Vaccination in Lactating Women Transfers Immune Response to Breastfed Infants

Researchers from the University of Massachusetts conducted a study to evaluate the transfer of immune responses from lactating women who received the COVID-19 mRNA-based vaccine to their breastfeeding infants. The study consisted of 30 lactating women who received the vaccine from January through April 2021. The results showed that the vaccine induced a strong immune response in the women, which was reflected in their breast milk.
