Edinburgh Community Skatepark Opening Delayed Due to Safety Concerns

The first phase was completed in 2024 and saw the construction of riverside amphitheatre-style steps, as well as new benches, trees, and planters. The second phase, known as the Dock, has repurposed an existing brick structure into a new skate spot and will also feature Gaudi-inspired mosaics designed by artist Campbell Barclay and volunteers.

Colin Gilchrist, who deals with marketing and business support for the Edinburgh Wheels Project, said, "The council have been hugely supportive about this project and continue to be very understanding as we work together towards opening the new skate space at Coalie Park." He added, "We know the community is eager to see the skate space open, and we are equally excited to see it completed. "This project has always been about creating something positive for young people and the wider community, and we are very close to realising that goal."
