Estimating Feed Requirements for Livestock and Poultry Products in Iran

A new study by researchers from Gorgan University of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources in Iran has aimed to estimate the type and amount of feed required for the production of livestock and poultry products in the country. The study analyzed the metabolizable energy of the feed and conversion efficiency coefficients to determine the amount of feed needed for each unit of product. The results showed that the average feed required to produce each kilogram of red meat in the country was calculated as 38.2 kg based on the fresh weight of the feed. The study also found that the self-reliance factors calculated for certain feed types were consistent with reported values, while others were lower.
