Genetic Diversity of Black Pepper in Bangka Island Studied by Researchers
Researchers from Universitas Bangka Belitung in Indonesia have conducted a study on the genetic diversity of black pepper plants in the Bangka Belitung Islands Province, a major centre of black pepper production in Indonesia. The study employed SSR markers to determine the genetic diversity and relationships of Bangka landrace black pepper. The research aimed to identify superior varieties of black pepper that can increase production in Indonesia, which has experienced a drop in black pepper production.
