Nanosubstrates Research Reveals Insights into Malathion Adsorption
Scientists at Changchun University of Science and Technology in Jilin, People's Republic of China, have conducted a study on the adsorption behavior of malathion on silver nanosubstrates using surface-enhanced Raman scattering technology and density functional theory. The research found that four adsorption conformations were confirmed, and the interaction between malathion and Ag was discussed by combining SERS with the HSAB theory. The study concluded that malathion is chemically adsorbed perpendicularly on a silver nanosubstrate by the S2 P3 group, providing theoretical support for exploring the chemical enhancement mechanism between malathion and AgNPs.
Key Takeaways:
- The chemical adsorption behavior of malathion on silver nanosubstrates was studied using surface-enhanced Raman scattering technology (SERS) and density functional theory (DFT).
- Four adsorption conformations were confirmed by constructing a model of the malathion-Ag complex and evaluating its binding energy, affinity energy, and Boltzmann distribution ratio.
- The interaction between malathion and Ag was discussed by combining SERS with the hard-soft acid-base (HSAB) theory, which confirmed the charge transfer effect between malathion and Ag.
- The attribution of SERS peak vibrations at different binding sites of malathion and its complexes was studied, and the reasons for the eigenfrequency shift, broadening, and selectivity enhancement were analyzed.
- The comparison between the experimental data and the calculated results showed good agreement, supporting the theoretical model.
- The research provides theoretical support for exploring the chemical enhancement mechanism between malathion and AgNPs and developing a new malathion SERS sensor.
- The study was conducted by scientists at Changchun University of Science and Technology, School of Physics, in collaboration with Nano researchers.
- The findings have significant implications for the development of new nano-based sensors and materials.
