New Research on Endometrial Cancer Highlights Role of Extracellular Vesicles and Macrophages in Cancer Progression

Research from Shandong University of Traditional Chinese Medicine sheds light on the critical interaction between endometrial cancer cells and tumour-associated macrophages mediated by extracellular vesicles. This interaction plays a crucial role in the proliferation, migration, and invasion of cancer cells, as well as in the polarization of macrophages towards an M2-like phenotype. Extracellular vesicles from endometrial cancer cells can promote the sensitivity of macrophages to radiation, while those from macrophages can decrease the sensitivity of endometrial cancer cells to radiation.
