New Study Reveals Efficacy of Yiqi Huoxue Tongluo Decoction in Reducing Restenosis Rates in Post-PCI Patients

Researchers in Hebei, People's Republic of China have made a significant discovery in the treatment of coronary artery disease. A total of 80 patients with coronary artery disease who underwent percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) between August 2019 and February 2021 were selected for the study. The patients were randomly assigned to either the control group or the observation group. The control group received conventional medicine treatment, while the observation group took Yiqi Huoxue Tongluo decoction (YHTD) alongside conventional medicine treatment.

Key Takeaways:

  • The study aimed to investigate the effect of YHTD combined with conventional medicine therapy on restenosis rates and clinical efficacy in patients with coronary heart disease undergoing PCI.
  • The observation group showed significant reductions in the left ventricular end diastolic diameter (LVEDD) and left ventricular end systolic diameter (LVESD) compared to the control group after treatment.
  • The observation group also demonstrated significant improvements in cardiac function indexes, such as left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) and stroke volume (SV), compared to the control group.
  • The levels of hs-CRP, Hcy, and sST2 were significantly reduced in both groups after treatment, and the levels in the observation group were significantly lower than those in the control group.
  • The study concluded that YHTD combined with conventional medicine therapy can significantly reduce the rate of coronary restenosis in post-PCI patients, improve TCM symptoms, alleviate angina symptoms, enhance cardiac function indexes, and effectively regulate serum biomarker levels.

Statistics:

  • 80 patients with coronary artery disease underwent PCI between August 2019 and February 2021.
  • The control group consisted of 40 patients while the observation group consisted of 40 patients.
  • The study found a significant reduction in LVEDD and LVESD values in the observation group compared to the control group (p < 0.05).
  • The observation group showed a significant improvement in LVEF and SV values compared to the control group (p < 0.05).
  • The levels of hs-CRP, Hcy, and sST2 were significantly reduced in both groups after treatment.
