Novel NLR-Based Prognostic Model Predicts Prognosis in Hepatocellular Carcinoma Patients

Researchers from the First Affiliated Hospital of Anhui Medical University have developed a novel NLR-based prognostic model that effectively stratifies hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) patients by survival risk. This study aimed to evaluate the prognostic value and biological function of NLR genes in HCC. The researchers analyzed transcriptomic and clinical data from The Cancer Genome Atlas using nonnegative matrix factorization (NMF) to classify HCC into molecular subtypes. The NLR-based prognostic model (NLR_score) was built using univariate Cox, least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO), and multivariate Cox regression. The model was validated and shown to predict prognosis and be associated with sensitivity to six chemotherapeutic drugs.
