Parana Leads Brazil in Soybean Exports with Record Breaking Volumes

According to data released by the Parana Institute for Economic and Social Development (Ipardes), the Port of Paranagua handled 11.3 million tons of soybeans from January to August 2025, worth US$4.5 billion FOB. This represents a significant 21.7% of the country's total soybean exports in the same period.

The Port of Paranagua's soybean exports reached a record-breaking 2 million tons in August, generating US$845.9 million FOB. The main destination for these exports was China, accounting for over 90% of demand. Other significant destinations included Thailand (2.2%) and Iraq (1.6%). The port's operations director, Gabriel Vieira, highlighted that despite the challenges posed by rain, the port managed to handle 7 million tons in August, the highest volume recorded for the month in the historical average.

The Port of Paranagua has become a vital hub for exports, with vehicle registrations increasing by 11% in Parana after the announcement of the IPVA reduction. The port's CEO, Luiz Fernando Garcia, emphasized its ability to serve its entire hinterland, including Parana and parts of Santa Catarina, Sao Paulo, Mato Grosso do Sul, Mato Grosso, and Goias.
