Poly-g-glutamic Acid Enhances Corn Nitrogen Use Efficiency and Yield
Research conducted by Wenjuan Shi, Zhongmin Zhai, Lu Liu, and Bo Jing at the Xi'an University of Technology in People's Republic of China has revealed that poly-g-glutamic acid significantly improves corn nitrogen use efficiency and yield by decreasing gaseous nitrogen loss and increasing mineral nitrogen accumulation. The study, published in Soil & Tillage Research, found that gamma-PGA, a non-toxic and harmless polymer, increased corn yield by 4.94%-21.60% and nitrogen use efficiency by 4.94%-21.60% when applied at optimal rates under mulched drip irrigation conditions.
