Qualitative Evaluation of National Security Law Education in Hong Kong: Students' Perspectives
Research conducted at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University sought to evaluate the effectiveness of a law abidance leadership education program covering the Hong Kong National Security Law. The program involved a 3-hour lecture and 7 hours of self-study on topics surrounding national security. The study utilized a qualitative research design, collecting data via focus groups with 52 randomly selected students. The findings indicated high inter-rater reliability in thematic analyses, with students expressing positive views of teachers' interaction and teaching performance. Despite some suggestions for improvement, the program was not seen as brainwashing by the students, and the researchers concluded that it promoted knowledge about law abidance leadership and nurtured positive attitudes towards it.
