South Pacific Minerals Corp. Discovers Large Copper and Gold Anomalies at Oomargi Prospect

South Pacific Minerals Corp. is pleased to report that grid-based soil sample assays have defined large, porphyry related, coincident copper and gold anomalies at the Oomargi Prospect, approximately 7km northwest of the Kodu Deposit. The company plans to assess the potential for economic mineralization by drilling two scout holes, located about 300m apart, to test the central sector of the strongest copper and gold anomalies. The copper anomaly is oriented to the NNE/NE, similar to the Kodu Deposit, and is cohesive and greater than 2,200m long and 650m to 1000m wide, using a cutoff of approximately 60ppm.

Key Takeaways:

  • The Oomargi Prospect has been identified as a potential site for economic mineralization, with large, porphyry related, coincident copper and gold anomalies.
  • The copper anomaly is oriented to the NNE/NE, similar to the Kodu Deposit, and is cohesive and greater than 2,200m long and 650m to 1000m wide, using a cutoff of approximately 60ppm.
  • The gold anomaly is coincident with the copper and has a similar overall size at a low-level cutoff of approximately 15ppb.
  • The copper and gold anomalies have higher tenor cores in the southern section, with copper being pseudo pear-shaped and up to approximately 500m wide and 750m long, averaging approximately 500ppm, with a peak of greater than 0.1% copper.
  • Lead and zinc anomalies indicate zonation typical of porphyry copper/gold deposits in this type of tectonic setting.
  • The northern approximately 40% of the copper and gold anomalies appears to be approximately 250m left laterally offset by a NW-trending fault.
  • The soil grid is 2,200m x approximately 1,700m and was sampled every 25m on 200m spaced lines.

Statistics:

  • The copper anomaly is greater than 2,200m long and 650m to 1000m wide, using a cutoff of approximately 60ppm.
  • The gold anomaly has a similar overall size as the copper anomaly at a low-level cutoff of approximately 15ppb.
  • The copper and gold anomalies have higher tenor cores in the southern section, with copper averaging approximately 500ppm.
  • The copper and gold anomalies are open to the NE.
  • Approximately 60% of the trench results at Oomargi Prospect were gold and sometimes copper anomalous, including 2m of 3.89g/t Au.
