Ruthenium-Porphyrin Conjugates Show Potential for Anticancer Activity
New research in the journal Dalton Transactions presents data on synthetic strategies for creating ruthenium-porphyrin conjugates with potential medicinal applications, including anticancer therapy. Investigators in Trieste, Italy have developed new classes of porphyrin-ruthenium conjugates, which combine the phototoxicity and tumour-localization properties of porphyrins with the cytotoxicity of metal fragments.
