Targeting Pancreatic and Ovarian Carcinomas with SGN-75 Antibody-Drug Conjugate

Researchers at Seattle Genetics, Inc. have discovered that the auristatin-based anti-CD70 antibody-drug conjugate SGN-75 can effectively target pancreatic and ovarian carcinomas. CD70, a protein highly expressed in renal carcinomas and non-Hodgkin lymphomas, has been identified as an ideal target for antibody-based therapies. Scientists generated murine monoclonal antibodies specific for CD70 and tested the anti-tumour activity of SGN-75 in various cancer cell lines. The results showed that pancreatic and ovarian tumor cell lines, which express high levels of endogenous or transfected CD70, are sensitive to the anti-tumour activity of SGN-75 in vitro and in vivo.
