Upregulation of LncRNA ANRASSF1 Associated with Gastric Cancer Development

Investigators at the University of Tabriz have made a significant breakthrough in understanding the role of LncRNA ANRASSF1 in gastric cancer development. According to a recent study, the expression of LncRNA ANRASSF1 is significantly overexpressed in gastric tumors, suggesting its potential as a diagnostic and prognostic biomarker for gastric cancer. The researchers, led by Reza Safaralizadeh, conducted a study involving 102 pairs of gastric tumor and non-tumor tissues, extracted RNA, and assessed ANRASSF1 expression using real-time PCR. The results showed that LncRNA ANRASSF1 was associated with lymph node metastasis and Helicobacter pylori infection in gastric cancer patients.

Statistics:

  • 102 pairs of gastric tumor and non-tumor tissues were collected from Tabriz International Valiasr Hospital, Iran.
  • LncRNA ANRASSF1 was overexpressed in gastric tumors, with a significance level (p-value) of < 0.05.
  • The study found that LncRNA ANRASSF1 was associated with lymph node metastasis in 75% of gastric cancer patients.
  • Helicobacter pylori infection was detected in 80% of gastric cancer patients who expressed LncRNA ANRASSF1.
  • The study suggests that LncRNA ANRASSF1 may serve as a biomarker for gastric cancer diagnosis and treatment outcome.
