SEC Prohibits Independent Directors from Transitioning to Executive Roles, Strengthens Corporate Governance

The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has taken steps to strengthen corporate governance and prevent the erosion of independent directorship by prohibiting independent directors from transitioning into executive director roles within the same company or group. The commission has also introduced a three-year cooling-off period for Chief Executive Officers (CEOs)
