New Research on Macular Edema Treatment Shows Positive Results

Researchers at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas, have published a new study on the treatment of macular edema, a common cause of vision loss in people with diabetes. The study, which was presented in the Middle East African Journal of Ophthalmology, found that a treatment protocol involving cycles of three injections of anti-vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) drugs was effective in improving or stabilizing vision in over 85% of patients over a 24-month period.
