Workplace Culture of Health and Diabetes Self-Management Behaviors in Urban China

A new study has shed light on the relationship between workplace culture of health and diabetes self-management behaviors among employees with type 2 diabetes in urban China. The research, conducted by investigators at Shanxi Medical University, recruited 462 employees with type 2 diabetes from three tertiary hospitals in Taiyuan City, Shanxi Province, China. The study found that workplace culture of health was positively associated with diabetes self-management behaviors, and that self-efficacy and future-oriented time perspective played a mediating role in this relationship.

Key Takeaways:

  • The study examined the mediating roles of self-efficacy and future-oriented time perspective in the association between workplace culture of health and diabetes self-management behaviors.
  • The findings indicated that workplace culture of health was associated with diabetes self-management behaviors both directly and indirectly through self-efficacy and future-oriented time perspective.
  • The indirect pathway of workplace COH - self-efficacy - diabetes self-management was significant, while the indirect pathway of workplace COH - FTP - diabetes self-management was not significant.
  • The study found a significant interaction between workplace COH, self-efficacy, and diabetes self-management behaviors.
  • The research was funded by The First China's Ministry of Education Project on Research, Reform And Practice of New Humanities.
