Banking Fraud and Robbery Cases in Faisalabad: New Arrests and Encounters

Toba tek singh -- FIA's Faisalabad circle arrested a man allegedly involved in a Rs36.2 million banking fraud. An FIA official says Hassan Raza, who was arrested in Hassanpura, Faisalabad, was an employee of a private bank. He, along with some other bank officials, allegedly misappropriated US$128,000 from foreign accounts.

In a separate incident, an alleged robber was killed in an 'encounter' with Rodala police at Faisalabad on Monday. Police claimed that an arrested robbery suspect, Mujerbur Rehman, was being taken by a police team back to the police station after the recovery of some looted items on his indication, when his four accomplices, riding two motorcycles, attacked and intercepted the police by resorting to indiscriminate fire near Chak 375 GB.

Meanwhile, two other bank officials, Usman (manager) and Shahzad Ahmad (relationship manager), who were Raza's accomplices in the scam, have already been arrested. The official says that Raza was also named in eight robbery cases registered by local police.

Speakers at a seminar on Down syndrome held at the University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF) called for strengthening support mechanisms for individuals with this condition. The awareness seminar was organised by UAF in collaboration with Karachi Down Syndrome Programme.
