Development of PBL-Based Student Worksheets to Improve Critical Thinking in Biology
Researchers at Universitas Negeri Padang have developed Biology Student Worksheets based on Problem-Based Learning (PBL) to enhance students' critical thinking skills in the respiratory and excretory system. The study aimed to determine the effectiveness of these worksheets in improving critical thinking skills among students. The results showed that the PBL-based worksheets were valid, practical, and effective in improving students' critical thinking skills, with higher critical thinking skills observed in the experimental class compared to the control class.
Key Takeaways:
- The study aimed to develop Biology Student Worksheets based on PBL to improve students' critical thinking skills in the respiratory and excretory system.
- The research involved 121 students from class XI MAN 02 Sijunjung in the 2023-2024 academic year, who were divided into an experimental and control group.
- The validity trial information was obtained through a lecturer as the validator, while the practicality trial information was obtained from teacher and student reaction questionnaires.
- The success trial information was obtained from a multiple-option question sheet to assess students' critical thinking skills.
- The PBL-based Biology LKPD showed a validity value of 84.1% with a very valid category and a practicality value of 86.9% with a very practical category.
- The results of the effectiveness test showed that the PBL-based Biology LKPD was effective in improving students' critical thinking skills, with a higher critical thinking skills test score in the experimental class (83.5%) compared to the control class (74.5%).
- The study concluded that the PBL-based Biology LKPD is a valid, practical, and effective tool for improving students' critical thinking skills in biology subjects.
Statistics:
- 121 students from class XI MAN 02 Sijunjung participated in the study.
- The validators' evaluation showed a validity value of 84.1% with a very valid category.
