Gene Therapy for Hepatocellular Carcinoma: Advances and Challenges
Gene therapy has the potential to provide therapeutic benefits to hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) patients, but its efficiency and selectivity in delivering genetic material to tumor tissue remain a significant challenge. Despite extensive research, including various delivery techniques such as intravenous, intra-arterial, and intra-tumoral injections, a highly effective gene therapy for HCC has not been reported. The goal of this review article is to analyze the relationship between the gene/vector complex and the delivery technique in promoting efficacy of gene therapy while minimizing systemic toxicity.
