Gene Therapy Shows Promise in Treating Laryngeal Cancer

Researchers in Chengdu, People's Republic of China, have made significant breakthroughs in the treatment of laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma (LSCC) using a novel therapeutic strategy involving signal transduction interference therapy. By constructing recombinant adenoviruses Ad-p14(ARF) and Ad-antisense EGFR, the team successfully inhibited the proliferation of Hep-2 cells, inducing differentiation and apoptosis. The study's findings demonstrate the potential of combining Ad-p14(ARF) and Ad-antisense EGFR as a target for gene therapy in preventing human laryngocarcinoma cell proliferation.
