Green Synthesis of Silver Nanoparticles with Therapeutic Potential
Researchers at Islamic Azad University in Iran have conducted a study on the green synthesis of silver nanoparticles using curcumin, a compound found in turmeric, and its potential therapeutic applications in treating Alzheimer's disease. The study analyzed the phytochemical composition, antioxidant activity, and anti-Alzheimer effects of curcumin-loaded silver nanoparticles. The results showed that the nanoparticles exhibited a particle size between 50 and 100 nm and had a zeta potential of -33 mV, indicating colloidal stability. The nanoparticles also demonstrated a crystalline structure and had antioxidant activity, with an IC value of 1167.9 μg/ml. Furthermore, the study observed anti-Alzheimer effects, with up to 44.3% inhibition of acetylcholinesterase activity at 585 μg/ml.
