Research out of the Department of Pathology has provided new insights into the efficacy of vaccines in preventing cancer caused by oncogenic viruses, including the hepatitis B virus. According to a study published in the journal Vaccines, prophylactic vaccines against HPV and HBV have been highly effective in preventing and reducing the incidence of uterine cervical and hepatocellular carcinomas.
