Innovative Strategies in Education: Project-Based Learning in Computer Science
Research published by the Faculty of Education highlights the importance of shifting from traditional teacher-centered methods to student-centered learning in achieving educational goals. A study conducted on 60 educational technology students at Ibb University, Yemen, employed a quasi-experimental design to analyze the effect of project-based learning on developing C# programming language skills. The findings showed a statistically significant difference between the experimental and control groups, with the experimental group outperforming the control group in enhancing their C# programming language skills.
Key Takeaways:
- The study suggests that project-based learning can be an effective approach to developing C# programming language skills in educational technology students.
- The quasi-experimental design used in the study allowed researchers to compare the performance of the experimental group to the control group, providing valuable insights into the effectiveness of project-based learning.
- The findings indicate that the experimental group showed a statistically significant improvement in C# programming language skills compared to the control group.
- The study recommends adopting pedagogical strategies that put the student at the center of the educational process to enhance their learning experience.
- Further research is needed to explore the impact of different learning styles, environments, and interactions on educational experiences.
- The study's recommendations aim to encourage a shift away from traditional teacher-centered methods to more student-centered approaches in education.
- The study provides a valuable contribution to the field of educational technology and programming language education.
Statistics:
- The study involved 60 educational technology students at Ibb University, Yemen.
- The research employed a quasi-experimental design with pretest/post-test assessments.
- The t-test statistical techniques were used to compare the two research group means.
- The findings showed a statistically significant difference at the 0.05 level between the experimental and control groups in the post-test scores of the achievement test and the self-efficacy scale.
- The study indicated that the experimental group achieved a mean score of 85.2 on the achievement test, whereas the control group achieved a mean score of 73.5.
- The self-efficacy scale results showed that the experimental group had a mean score of 92.1, compared to 83.2 for the control group.
