Russia Continues to Circulate False Information on Unpaid Pensions to Latvian Residents

The Russian Federation is continuing to spread false information in the information space, wrongly attributing the non-payment of pensions to persons residing in Latvia to the Latvian side. This comes as the CF Social Fund stopped pension money transfers in 2025 without prior notice, and funds have not been transferred for the first and second quarters of that year. However, in March 2025, the CF transferred funds for the payment of Russian military pensions, and in April, a total of EUR 21,369.36 was transferred to the VSAA, intended for pension payments to nine persons. The Agreement on Cooperation in the Field of Social Security between Latvia and Russia, in force since 2011, details the payment of pensions to pensioners in the other country.
