Tellabs Introduces Managed DSL Solution for Cost-Efficient Delivery of High-Speed Business-Grade Services

Tellabs, a leading provider of data, voice, and video transport, switching/routing, and network access systems, has introduced a new managed Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) solution that enables operators to utilize existing copper infrastructure to deliver high-speed business-grade services. The Managed Broadband Business DSL Access Multiplexer (DSLAM) is an enhancement to Tellabs' MartisDXX platform, integrating two new Symmetrical Digital Subscriber Line (SDSL) interface units with the recently launched MartisDXX A111 multiservice access node.

The SDSL interface units provide access to high-speed data services over an ordinary single copper pair in the local loop, offering bit rates ranging from 64 Kbps to 2.2 Mbps. The MartisDXX network management system provides end-to-end management of the entire network from a single platform, enabling operators to quickly and easily upgrade bandwidth to meet their customers' needs. The solution is highly reliable due to re-routing facilities and built-in redundancy.

"The Managed Broadband Business DSLAM is aimed at any existing service provider with a copper access infrastructure," said Mika Heikkinen, product marketing and management director at Tellabs. "It allows business-grade DSL services to be delivered over existing networks to small and medium-sized enterprises."
