UK Government figures have strongly condemned the violence that erupted at the Unite The Kingdom protest, which was led by far-right activist Tommy Robinson and saw 26 police officers injured, including four who were seriously hurt.

The protest, which attracted a crowd of between 110,000 and 150,000 people, was met with a counter-protest by around 5,000 "anti-racism" campaigners. The event featured a guest appearance from Tesla and X owner Elon Musk, who called for an urgent change in government in the UK and told protesters to "fight back" or "die".

Business Secretary Peter Kyle described the tech billionaire's comments as "slightly incomprehensible" and "totally inappropriate".

"Twenty-four people were arrested for a range of offences including affray, violent disorder, assault and criminal damage," said a statement from the police.

The UK Government has issued a statement condemning the violence and vowing to take action against those responsible. Shabana Mahmood, the Home Secretary, described the scenes as "violent" and vowed to bring those responsible to justice.

"The fact that four police officers were seriously injured shows just how serious the situation was," said Ms Mahmood, according to the BBC.

The protest also drew attention to the growing tensions surrounding immigration in the UK.

"The financial crisis had a huge impact on communities across the country, and we haven't been able to bring communities back together again since," said Business Secretary Peter Kyle, according to the BBC.
