Prognostic Factors Identified for Metastatic Castration-Resistant Prostate Cancer Undergoing Radioligand Therapy
New research conducted at the Department of Nuclear Medicine, Balikesir Ataturk City Hospital in Turkiye has shed light on the prognostic factors for metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC) patients undergoing 177Lu-PSMA-617 radioligand therapy. The study retrospectively examined 31 patients with median age 69 (57-80) years, who received treatment between 2021 and 2024. The findings indicate that the presence of visceral metastasis, fatigue, anorexia, and nephropathy are significantly associated with poor overall survival. In a multivariate model, visceral metastasis, fatigue, and nephropathy remained significant prognostic factors.
Key Takeaways:
- The study retrospectively examined 31 patients with metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC) who underwent 177Lu-PSMA-617 radioligand therapy between 2021 and 2024.
- The presence of visceral metastasis, fatigue, anorexia, and nephropathy were significantly associated with poor overall survival.
- In a multivariate model, visceral metastasis, fatigue, and nephropathy remained significant prognostic factors for overall survival.
- Patients with visceral metastases had an overall survival of 20.79 months (95% CI: 16.77-24.81; p = 0.001).
- Patients with anorexia had an overall survival of 15.57 months (95% CI: 7.17-23.97; p = 0.036).
- Patients with fatigue had an overall survival of 13.32 months (95% CI: 5.39-21.25; p = 0.023).
- Patients with nephropathy had an overall survival of 14.96 months (95% CI: 6.22-23.70; p = 0.038).
- The study was conducted at the Department of Nuclear Medicine, Balikesir Ataturk City Hospital, Turkiye, and involved 31 patients with a median age of 69 (57-80) years.
- The research has been peer-reviewed and published in the Jcpsp-journal of the College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan.
