Development of Hypogammaglobulinemia in Rheumatoid Arthritis Patients on Rituximab Treatment Associated with Better Treatment Response

Research conducted at the Ankara University School of Medicine has investigated the frequency of hypogammaglobulinemia development in rheumatoid arthritis (RA) patients receiving rituximab treatment. The study retrospectively evaluated 165 RA patients who received at least two courses of rituximab with a six-month interval between 2010 and 2021. The results showed that 35 (21.2%) patients developed hypogammaglobulinemia, with pre-treatment IgG levels below 10.5 g/l and an increase in the number of rituximab courses being independently associated risk factors.
